10 Food Hacks That Will Make Your Life So Much Easier

Sometimes, simply trying to eat food can prove to be quite a challenge. Thankfully, these food hacks make it a much easier task.

To make eating and life a little easier, we've snagged 10 brilliant food life hacks from Ella Elbells YouTube channel. From the best way to squeeze a lemon to preventing your bananas from going bad too quickly, these quick tips and tricks cover a lot of territory and will make you want to run for the kitchen. Which one of these will you try first?

1. Life Hack No. 1 - Cake for Breakfast

Instead of regular waffle batter, use cake or brownie mix. Follow the step by step instructions on the box and once you are done sifting all the ingredients together, simply pour them into your waffle maker. There's a chance you will have to heat the batter a little longer, just to get it as crispy as a regular waffle. Pair with syrup, or better yet, whipped cream and there you have it! Cake for breakfast.

2. Life Hack No. 2 - Juicing a Lemon

There's nothing like a freshly squeezed glass of lemonade in the hot summer months. That being said, squeezing a lemon can prove to be a pretty daunting task. To avoid a mess or accidentally squirting juice in your eye (we've all done it), simple place half a lemon in between a pair of tongs and squeeze. This will allow you to get the most juice out of your fruit and enjoy a fresh delicious beverage at the same time.

3. Life Hack No. 3 - Cure for Freezer-Burned Ice Cream

If you are one of the thousands of people around the world affected by freezer-burnt ice cream, we feel you. There's nothing worse than anticipating a sweet, creamy flavor when you take a bite of your ice cream, and getting a crushed-ice like taste instead. Ew! To avoid such a casualty, simply place your pint of ice cream into a zip lock bag before tossing it in the freezer. So simple, yet so handy.

4. Life Hack No. 4 - Crack Your Eggs Like a Badass

Cracking an egg is an art that is hard to master. We've all screwed up and let shards of the egg shell fall in with the yolk; and there are few things more annoying than trying to get them out. So if you've ever found yourself in that pickle, just wet your fingers with some water before diving in to pluck out those shards. You'll be shocked at how easy it will be.

5. Life Hack No. 5 - Eating Your Cupcake Right

Have you ever bitten into your cupcake and ended up with frosting all over your face? Trust us, you aren't alone. To avoid the mess and possible humiliation, cut your cupcake horizontally and place the bottom half on top of the frosting to make a kind of a cupcake sandwich. That way you won't look like a two year old with cupcake remnants all over you.

6. Life Hack No. 6 - Avoiding Dripping Popsicles

Popsicles make for a delicious warm weather treat, but they also melt and make a mess. To avoid sticky fingers, and stains on your shirt, place a cupcake liner on the bottom of your popsicle stick. It will act as a buffer and save you from all the dripping.

7. Life Hack No. 7 - Stop Your Bacon From Shrinking

This one is for all you bacon lovers out there. If you want to enjoy your bacon strips in all their glory, simply run them under water before you place them on your frying pan. You'll notice that they will shrink less and give you the illusion that you are eating more bacon. Because there is no such thing as too much bacon. Am I right?

8. Life Hack No. 8 - Unroll an Orange Instead of Peeling it

Rather than getting chunks of fruit under your nails, slice the ends of your orange with a sharp knife. Then, cut the skin vertically and open up the orange into a strip. From there, you can separate the individual pieces and peel them out fairly easily.

9. Life Hack No. 9 - Save Your Bananas

Bananas are a great snack to grab on the go, but they go bad quickly. If you want to slow down the fruit's transition from yellow to brown, wrap some plastic or saran wrap around the stem and it will slow down the decaying process.

10: Life Hack No. 10 - Avoid Cereal Crumbs

There's nothing like finding out that you are out of cereal than pouring crushed up crumbs into your bowl of milk. To avoid this from happening, pour your entire box of cereal into a sifter right after you open it. This will get rid of all of the crumbs so you don't end up with a soggy and kinda gross breakfast later on.
