To my mother

You gave the gift of life to me
And then in love, you set me free.
I thank you for your tender care
For warm, deep hugs and just being there.
I hope that when you think of me
A part of you, you'll always see.

I wrote this poem for my mother who passed before she could read it. I submitted itfor a
poetry contest but I had to have emergency surgery before I could respond to any publication.
I came across a copy of this poem a few days ago and it brought tears to my eyes as I thought
of my beautful mother and how much I wanted to give her this poem. She will be truly missed by
all her girls and theirgrandchildren.
