VENUE: Foyer of the Society for Macedonian Studies
OPENING: 12 Μay 2023
An original devised theatre production in which the supernatural plays a leading role, along with a touching and amusing ritual of farewell.
Α few words about the play
“ABSOLUTE MAGIC” tells the story of a city where objects, the seasons, the weather, plants disappear, leaving no imprint behind them in the inhabitants’ minds or souls. Roses disappear along with basketball and winter; perfumes, books and snow vanish, leaving an absurd void where they used to be. The townspeople resort to strange, mystic rituals to bid farewell to everything. Quirky spirits are summoned to fill the newly-empty spaces in an effort to find answers in a world that seems to be more meaning-less with every passing day.
“ABSOLUTE MAGIC” is a performance/ritual that walks a fine line between metaphysical thriller and black comedy. The audience become attendees at a ritual, and the Foyer of the Society for Macedonian Studies fills with spirits that have no intention of leaving the living in peace.
