20 Coolest Airbnb Rentals To Check Out On Your Next Vacation

Sure, the trip is all about the destination; but a nice place to stay is always a plus, too. We found 20 of the coolest Airbnbs you’ll want to check out on your next vacation. While you’re bound to hit all the touristy sights, it might be hard to leave your abode.

Joshua Tree, CA

The Dome in the Desert was specially created as a personal escape from busy city lives to re-energize under the desert sky. This vacation destination features modern-bohemian and hand crafted decor. It rests on multiple acres and is secluded from neighbors so you can enjoy the sprawling desert mountain views and the star-filled night sky in peace.

However, it’s also conveniently located just a few miles from the Joshua Tree National Park. And, as an added amenity, local juicing guru, Angela of Juice in the Desert, offers her juicing services to all guests who stay at the Dome in the Desert. What a win.

Austin, TX

The Hideaway is the luxury vacation experience located the heart of South Congress. Its tranquil and private setting—with heated outdoor swimming pool, waterfall, and tropical landscaping—makes it feel like a mini-resort in Texas.

Atlanta, GA

Named Airbnb’s “#1 most wish-listed property in the world” in 2016, this Southern destination clearly a treat. Located within the heart of Atlanta, the three-room Secluded Intown Treehouse most notably features a rolling bed that can be moved to an outdoor platform that overlooks the stream below, and the vintage decor and natural artifacts add plenty to the charm.

While you’re close enough to check out the city of Atlanta, we’re not sure you’d want to leave this tree house oasis.

Twentynine Palms, CA

According to their Airbnb page, The Tile House is a magical place—and is seemingly the perfect destination to retreat and unwind, find yourself, breathe and explore. The inside and outside are decked with mosaics made of “Mexican tile, handmade Perry Hoffman ceramics, tile and fused glass, found desert tiles, found objects, stained-glass, and more.” That’s seriously impressive.

With two bedrooms, a hot tub, and gorgeous views, it’s the desert mosaic destination from your dreams.

Woodridge, NY

If you like to hike, swim, and simply be surrounded by nature, the Geo Dome might just be the place for you. Located in Woodridge, a rural community in the southern Catskill Mountains, it’s a place to “glamp” under the stars. There’s a complete outdoor kitchen and outdoor showers, with plenty of animals on the farm and a lake close by.

There are trails that’ll lead you to rivers, waterfalls, and look-out points, and the property has multiple dwellings and shared spaces, so you may just stumble upon a yoga retreat or musicians recording in the site’s music studio. Bonus: You can check and see what’s happening during your stay before you book. How cool is that?

Denver, CO

This 1880s Carriage House is tucked in the back garden in one of Denver’s oldest neighborhoods. The homey details and vintage charm will have any wanderlust swooning.

And if you’ll want to actually venture out of the cozy, secluded space for a bit, it’s in walking distance to local craft breweries and restaurants, for any foodie taking a trip to the city.

Hudson, NY

This glass cabin is nestled on a six-acre lot in the middle of a lush forest, with a southwesterly view of rolling farmland—a wonderful site and an active space to wake up to with all those beautiful windows. Plus, the immediate area is known for its wide-open landscape, rolling farmland, hiking, canoeing, skiing, and more, meaning you’ll have plenty to do on your few days away.

Taos, NM

This Airbnb is a Studio Earthship—aka it’s a totally off-the-grid house that catches its own rain water, generates its own electricity, and stays at a steady 72 degrees year-round without the use of any fuel or electricity.

But, as the listing explains, don’t let off-the-grid fool you: it has Wi-Fi, Netflix, and a large bathroom with a deep tub and stone all around. Count us in for going “off-the-grid.”

Denton, TX

This renovated 1972 Vintage Land Yacht maintains its rustic charm and sits on 100 acres tucked away in a country setting, but only 15 minutes away from historic downtown Denton.

It’s complete with all the necessities: a barbecue grill and fire pit, of course. Guests have full access to the hammock, bicycles, fishing ponds, and pathways as well. It’s the outdoorsy gal’s dream vacation destination.

Orlando, FL

This Lakefront Studio Apartment sums up what a Florida vacation is all about. With a special, private entrance overlooking the spa, pool, and lake—not to mention the views of downtown Orlando, too—it’s the perfect spot for those looking to take a dip (and get some sun!)

If you want to stay close to your rental, there’s a canoe free for guests to use. Plus, Universal Studios is only 9 miles away, and Disney is an 18-mile drive. There’s not a shortage of things to do in the area, but if you just want to relax poolside, we won’t judge.

Captain Cook, HI

The hidden jewel at Kealakekua Bay Bali Cottage is nestled under a large ficus tree (with a large limb going right through living room ceiling), and it’s steps away from Neighborhood Beach Park where you can access Kealakekua Bay for swimming, snorkeling, and catching a glimpse of the turtles, reef fish, manta rays, and dolphins.

There’s a private, tropical yard with a pond, gazebo, and barbecue, all decked with tiki torches. We’d like to book a one-way ticket, please.

Wimberley, TX

This Retro Airstream is for anyone day dreaming about jumping in a travel trailer and heading West. (And who would take a glamping adventure over a traditional camping trip.) Plus, it’s only a block from great restaurants, shops, and entertainment for those hoping to experience all the city has to offer on their vacation.

Agoura Hills, CA

Portland, OR

This Airbnb, designed with handcrafted Japanese carpentry, is built to be both aesthetically beautiful and comfortable, with natural, clay walls and a wood beamed ceiling. The attention to every detail on the inside is stunning, and as an added bonus, the walls are adorned with work from local artists.

Plus, you’ll have easy access to some of Portland’s best shops, restaurants, bars and breweries, music venues, boutiques, coffee houses, and yoga studios.

Nashville, TN

This renovated villa apartment is meant for the music aficionado. Nestled above a 1930s-historic bungalow home, it’s located near downtown, and it’s just one block off music row. With a cozy living area and gorgeous natural lighting, you might not want to leave.
